Conductor - Taz Rundle

I began my association with music in 1976 as a BBb Tuba player with the Hobart City Brass Band and enlisted in the Australian Army Reserve in the Band of the Sixth Military District in 1979, (later called the Australian Army Band Tasmania) till 1996. My time in the Army provided me exposure to many specialist Conductors as well as opportunities to learn Bass Guitar, String Bass, Percussion, Audio and Lighting before a medical discharge in 1996.

While a member of the Hobart City Band I have been a player, a committee member, Secretary and President. In 1984 I, together with then Bandmaster Mr Jim Wilkie created the Hobart City Wind Ensemble to cater for the lack of groups for concert instrumentalists who, after completing school, wanted to continue playing.

In 1997 I accompanied the Derwent Valley Concert Band to Alberta, Canada as Director of Marching (Drum Major) to perform at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede and tour for two weeks and again in 2000 to China.

I departed Tasmania in 2003 for NSW as a Life Member of Hobart City Band and was inactive musically due to work until 2014. After leaving Sydney in 2013 for Temora, I joined my closest band the Junee Town Band as Principal Tuba. If I was to play in a band in Temora I had to start one! And so I have.

I am a Husband, a NSW Ambulance Paramedic, a Rotarian and a Musician.
